7 decisions... er... intentions

I love books. They often change my life. Some of my favorites are:
The Gifts of ImperfectionBrene Brown
The AlchemistPaulo Coehlo
Here if You Need Me – Kate Braestrup
The Forty Rules of LoveElif Shafak
And The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews.
I know, Andy Andrews is a tiny bit cheesy and a lot bit conservative and “inspirational” and “motivational” and I tend to shy away from those types. ((Ok, I don’t tend to shy away. I’m decidedly motivated and inspired by those types.)) Although I haven’t liked any other of Andrews’ books, The Traveler’s Gift was the first one I read and I loved the ideas it held. Part of the book was the Seven Decisions. Because I take things from books and integrate them into my
life, I took the Seven Decisions and made them mine. Here they are, although they aren’t really Decisions as much as intentions:

1. I am responsible for my past and my future. My past can never be changed, but I can change the future by changing my actions today. I will change my actions today!
2. I will seek wisdom. I will actively seek it out. I will listen to the counsel of wise people. I will choose my friends with care. Adversity is preparation for greatness.
3. I am a person of action. When faced with the choice of doing nothing or doing something, I will always choose to act. I seize this moment. I choose NOW.
4. I have a decided heart. My destiny is assured. I will not wait. I am passionate about my vision for the future!
5. Today I will choose to be happy. I posses a grateful spirit! I do not deny the reality of the situation; I deny the finality of it. This, too, shall pass.
6. I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit. I will forgive myself. From this day forward, my history will cease to control my destiny. I have forgiven myself. My life has just begun.
7. I will persist without exception. I am a person of great faith. I know the outcome I desire. I hold fast to my dreams. I stay the course. I do not quit. From this day forward, I will claim faith in the certainty of my future.
